Nisaaut-Tawheed Holds Maiden Seminar to Empower Muslim Women in Western Region
Takoradi, August 29, 2026 — Nisaaut-Tawheed, the ladies wing of Daarut-Tawheed Centre for Excellence (DATEX), has held its maiden seminar for its members and invited Muslim women under the theme, “The Role and Responsibilities of Women in the Light of the Prophetic Sunnah.”
The seminar, held at the Air Force Mosque in Takoradi, brought together Muslim women from different communities and organisations across the Western Region.
The main speaker was Imam Adil Yunus Wakpenjo, while Haj Saeed Hamid Jallo, Founder and Director of DATEX, chaired the programme.
Speaking at the event, Haj Jallo advised the women on the need to contribute to building and maintaining peaceful homes. He identified three key areas which, he said, were essential to achieving this: responsible use of the tongue, emotional safety, and conflict management and resolution.
He elaborated on each of the three areas, stressing the importance of responsible communication, creating an emotionally safe environment within the home, and adopting constructive approaches to managing and resolving disagreements.
Imam Adil Yunus Wakpenjo also addressed the participants on the theme, reminding them of their status and responsibilities as Muslim women. He encouraged them to uphold good Islamic qualities and allow the teachings and example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to guide their conduct, relationships and responsibilities.
The second part of the programme featured an interactive group exercise in which the participants were divided into four groups and assigned different social tasks to address.
The presentations generated considerable interest among the participants and impressed the Chairman, who applauded the women for their performance.
Haj Jallo observed that the exercise had demonstrated the intellectual potential and problem-solving abilities of Muslim women in the Western Region. He expressed the view that the region had Muslim women capable of taking up serious educational and da’wah programmes and making meaningful contributions to the development of the Muslim community.
The Convener of Nisaaut-Tawheed, Madam Zaiynab Abubakar, used the occasion to explain the objectives behind the creation of the ladies wing of DATEX.
She invited Muslim women to join the initiative and contribute to what she described as an effort to chart a new course for Muslim women and children through education, empowerment, social engagement and da’wah.
The participants expressed satisfaction with the seminar, particularly the opportunity it provided them to express their views, share ideas and demonstrate their abilities.
The discussions and group presentations provided the women with an opportunity to explore practical ways of contributing to the development of a stronger and more progressive Muslim community.
Participants came from different communities and represented various Muslim organisations, making the seminar a platform for interaction, networking and the exchange of ideas among Muslim women in the region.
Madam Zaiynab announced that the seminar would become a monthly programme, with the aim of providing continuous learning, engagement and empowerment opportunities for Muslim women in the Western Region.
The maiden seminar thus marked the beginning of Nisaaut-Tawheed’s efforts to establish a sustained platform through which Muslim women can develop their knowledge, leadership capacity and social responsibility while contributing positively to their families and communities.
